A day in the life of Cohen and Caleb

Awhile back I saw a blog post where a woman documented her WHOLE day with her children. I thought it was a need way to look back a year from now and see what a "normal" day in our home consisted of. This will be SO mundane and boring for most of you but I will enjoy looking back to see how we spent our days. Beware, its alot of pictures.


I woke up at 6:10 and made the bed :)


Both the boys woke at 7:08, I get both
of them dressed upstairs and then we
come down to play/eat. Cohen always
plays outside while I make breakfast.


I fed Caleb a little to hold him until
breakfast for Cohen was ready.

We do our daily devotion, bible story.

While I clean up Cohen watched a DVD.


Caleb jumped!


I got Cohen ready, shoes on, teeth brushed,
hair geled, cologne (yes he wears cologne).


and we are off....


we always stop to see the chickens!


both boys loaded, ready for the day.
8:47am.


down the driveway and discover this... someone ran into
our mailboxes! they drove them out of the ground and wadded
them up. i hope the person is okay b/c it had to have taken alot
of force to pull metal out of the ground!


first stop, kroger (we go here literally 4x a week)



2nd stop, to get things to make daddy's birthday present :)



3rd stop, picnic lunch with grammy and aunt amy! we went
to celebrate grammys birthday which was on monday!!

saw me dress it on caleb this morning,
he took it, and wore it all day.


we got home at 12:15pm, the boys wrestled.



cohen worked on his letter of the day. we are back at "A"


boys took naps at 1:04pm


at 3:30 i heard cohen up, and went in to discover this....



apparently cohen DID NOT nap.


this pretty boy did and woke up at 2:42


this afternoon I let Cohen help me organize the shelves


daddys home! finally! best part of the day :)


dinner time 5:45pm


off to eat ice cream! 6:07pm


since he decided to "play" instead of nap,
cohen fell asleep on the way to ice cream




normally this is the time for baths but daddy treated us to
ice cream instead :)

whew, that was alot of effort to take pictures ALL day long.

Galatians 5:22-23

We have been talking with Cohen a lot about his heart. What good is it to have a child who obeys when he does not have a heart for God? When he doesn't understand that his behavior is much more than doing what mommy and daddy say? This has been the topic of discussion at our house a lot lately. We have been talking about the fruit of the Spirit A LOT! Fruit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control)

So when I stumbled across the idea to create a box with the fruits of the spirit written on the outside and each time Cohen showing fruit we write it down and put it in the box, this goes for when he is acting kind towards someone, being gentle (esp with caleb), having joy, being under control (rare) or loving someone. Then the end of the week we open the box and read them aloud :) I had to do it! I went and got a box right away! This is a great way for him (and us) to focus on the fruits on a daily basis. Not to mention I love to praise Cohen for his good deeds rather then always punishing him. Cohen will get to see how proud we are of him. (He already has two in his box!!!)

He was so proud to place the papers in the box and I love that it is an intrinsic reward rather than a little toy from the dollar spot at Target that he plays with for a day (although there is a time and place for those too;) LOL.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

what a month!

We have been busy bees around here in the Harris household, I can't wait until July when we can relax and enjoy the summer. :)

The Proverbs 31 Woman

I have been reading "Becoming a Woman Who Pleases God", for like the past year, literally. LOL.
I am very inspired by this!

The first chapter talks about how a wise woman builds her home and the 11 principles of the wise woman. thought i would share :)

1. virtuous = moral excellence, right actions, being noble, pure and true. (Phil 4:8-9)
2. trustworthy= honesty, integrity, reliability. (Colossians 2:10)
3. energetic= strength and power (Proverbs 31:10-31)
4. physically fit= suitable, proper, and fit (Proverbs 31:17)
5. economical= this challenges us to refrain from being wasting time, money, or any other resource (Proverbs 31;18)
6. unselfish= selfishness is sin. (Proverbs 6: 16-19)
7. prepared= this principle goes on to state that wise women are to be prepared for any event instead of jumping from crisis to crisis. (Jeremiah 17:7-8)
8. honorable= having integrity (1 Peter 3:3-4)
9. prudent= implying wisdom and careful consideration of consequences, especially with the use of our tongue (Ecclesiastes 10:12-14)
10. lovable= kindness, generosity, intense love for others (Acts 10:34)
11. God fearing= a reverential trust in God, including the hatred of evil (Romans 12:9) (James 4:7).

(these have MANY scripture references)



These are the 11 principles that are presented in Proverbs 31. I strive to be a Proverbs 31 woman in everything I do.

Friday we had the pleasure of attending the wedding of Zach's cousin Chelsea! She got married to her boyfriend of many years, Daniel. They got engaged last year while we were at the beach..

We didn't get home until 11pm! Needless to say Saturday morning we all woke up very exhausted, but well worth it. Congrats Chelsea and Daniel!
